Cable ties are simple tools used for holding items together. They are most commonly used to manage cable installations and protect them from being pulled out accidentally. They are also useful in everyday applications, e.g. for fastening components. The ties use a ratchet mechanism, making them easy to fasten, but very difficult to undo – unless a particular tie is designed to be opened in a specific way, you usually have to cut them. Cable ties are usually made out of durable plastics, e.g. polyamide. Choosing these components is a simple matter: it only involves selecting their color, width, and maximum loop diameter. However, it's a good idea to consider their resistance to operating conditions as well – high temperatures, UV radiation, - and flammability rating.
