12VDC fans feature a number of parameters that must be taken into account when choosing the right product.For better cooling, a 12V fan must rotate at a sufficiently high speed. To some extent, the solution to this problem is to use a fan with a suitable bearing. Here, we can distinguish durable, but also noisy ball bearings, and slide bearings, which are quieter but have a shorter lifespan. The third option are Vapo bearings. The best choice for 12VDC fans seems to be hydraulic bearings, which combine low noise level with long service life.The noise can also be handled by selecting the largest possible fan with as many blades as possible, which allows you to reduce the rotational speed while minimising bearing wear.
Choosing the right fan depending on its size
Of course, the size of the fan is also limited by the available space. Larger ones can be used for server enclosures, industrial computers, processor cooling, power supply or water cooler in the water cooling system. Smaller fans are suitable for cooling graphics cards, certain CPU or graphics card heat sinks, and the smallest fans are suitable for chipsets on motherboards.
