(44)Oscilloscopes are basic tools for every electronical engineer. They are measuring instruments used to observe waveforms and changes in electrical signals. The oscilloscope screen shows the most frequent changes in signal (or signals) as a function of time in the form of a two-dimensional graph. Other physical quantities (e.g. sounds or vibrations) can also be analysed after conversion to an electrical signal. The graph shows the most important parameters such as amplitude, frequency, time intervals, rise time and deviation. Oscilloscopes can be divided depending on the signal analysis technology. There are digital and analogue devices available. The former operate based on the image generated by the microprocessor system and currently they constitute the majority of applications in engineering, medicine or automotive industry. When choosing the best solution, it is worth paying attention to the oscilloscope bandwidth, available memory, sampling, number of channels and the possibility of using special functions and filters.
