SMD coil is a passive inductive component for SMT mounting, built from spirally wound wire. The wire can be wound on a core made of magnetic materials (e.g. ferrite), or a coilformer made of diamagnetic materials (e.g. plastic or paper). Also available are air coils with no filling. They are made from a relatively rigid wire. Generally speaking, a coil is understood as any inductive component, but sometimes its task is to filter AC voltage. Depending on what's practicable, SMD coils can come in various shapes. Commonly known are spirally wound components. However, if the component is to be included in a wireless charger, a receiver, or a transmitter, it can be wound flat. A characteristic parameter for all coils is their inductance denoted in henries [H]. Other important data includes operating current, Q factor, and resistance.
TME's catalogue includes over 100 different coils. The search system allows for filtering by any of the aforementioned important parameters. The offer includes SMD coils with inductance of 1.6nH to 24μH. Depending on the actual needs, you can also choose the choke type – standard or an air coil. Other available information includes resonant and test frequency, enclosure, body dimensions, choke uses, and many other parameters. TME catalogue includes SMD coils from such manufacturers as: FERROCORE, TDK, or Amphenol.
