Ferrite core is an inductive element, made of soft ferromagnetic materials – most often manganese-zinc or nickel-zinc ferrites. TME offer mostly includes power ferrite cores, made of 3C90, 3C94 or 3F3 materials. These components are characterized by relatively low power losses, as well as high magnetic permeability and high electrical resistance. Thanks to this, they can be used in interference suppressing components, in telecommunication or transformer systems.
Depending on the shape and configuration, ferrite cores are used in various applications. The most popular are cores in E (and EFD, ETD varieties), P, U and RM versions. The former are used e.g. in transformers and power inductors installed in switched-mode power supplies. EFD ferrite cores are their flattened variant, useful in low-profile constructions. ETDs, on the other hand, differ from the E version, as they have a round central column, thanks to which they allow the transmission of more power. Ferrite P cores (called cup cores) due to their shape and properties are used e.g. in coils, impulse transformers and others. The U version is used in high power applications.
All the above mentioned versions of ferrite cores, as well as their modifications, i.e. PH or RM/I, are available at TME. It is also possible to filter products according to the material from which they are made, individual dimensions and weight. This makes it easy to adapt them to the needs of a specific application. The catalogue includes products of brands such as Ferroxcube, Feryster and TDK.
