Mechatronics is an interdisciplinary field of engineering that combines elements of mechanics, electronics, Automation, computer science and control theory to design, analyse and realise intelligent technical systems. It aims to integrate mechanical and electronic components with control systems and software to create systems with a high degree of functionality, reliability and flexibility of operation.
The concept of mechatronics is based on a synergistic design approach in which all components - mechanical, sensory, actuator and control - are developed simultaneously and adapted to each other. This results in more compact, energy-efficient and precise devices that respond to changing operating conditions and can autonomously adapt their operation to current needs.
Typical examples of mechatronics applications include industrial robots, positioning systems, medical devices, intelligent Actuators, autonomous vehicles, 3D printers, and white goods with implemented adaptive algorithms. Mechatronics is also widely used in the aerospace, automotive and energy industries, as well as in the manufacture of precision machinery and special equipment.
From an engineering perspective, mechatronics requires the ability to combine knowledge from different areas of technology - from the design of mechanical systems, to the selection and integration of sensors, to the implementation of control algorithms and data analysis. A key role is played here by the use of modern modelling tools and simulation, software environments and embedded systems, which enable digital representation and verification of system operation even before physical implementation.
The development of mechatronics is supported by advances in miniaturisation, electromechanical microsystems (MEMS), artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, leading to increasingly sophisticated, integrated and intelligent engineering solutions.
Transfer Multisort Elektronik (TME) is one of the world’s largest global distributors of electronic components, electrotechnical parts, workshop equipment, and industrial automation. The catalog includes over 1,500,000 products from 1,300 leading manufacturers. TME’s modern logistics centers in Łódź and Rzgów (Poland), with a combined area of over 40,000 m², ship nearly 6,000 packages daily to customers in more than 150 countries.
TME also invests in the development of knowledge and skills of young engineers and electronics enthusiasts through the TME Education project, and supports the tech community by organizing the TechMasterEvent series, promoting innovation and experience exchange.
