Heat conductive compounds, also known as thermal greases, are chemical compounds in the form of mass, characterized by high thermal conductivity. Despite this property, they are usually electrical insulators. Thermal greases are used to fill the contact surface between highly electronic components which heat up to high temperatures and heat dissipaters (heat sinks). The aim is to maximise heat dissipation from the system. Heat conductive compounds can be divided according to the type of base material. The most commonly used are those based on silicones, epoxy resins, polyacrylates or polyurethanes. They guarantee high thermal conductivity while being an electrical insulator, which eliminates the risk of short circuits. There are also compounds based on metals – aluminium, zinc, silver or in special cases – gallium. However, it is important to remember about proper protection of the system against the possible flow of electric charges. When selecting the compound, apart from considering its conductivity, it is worth choosing the substance that will suit the equipped heat sink. For example, if the heat sink is made of aluminium, you should avoid highly corrosive compounds.
Transfer Multisort Elektronik store product portfolio includes heat conductive compounds in tubes, films, cans or syringes of different capacities (from 0.5 ml to 200 ml). The basic selection criterion should be the thermal conductivity (expressed in watts per metre-kelvin), which depends on the material. The catalogue contains products based on silicone, silver, gold, copper or with the addition of synthetic diamonds. The search engine filters also allow to sort available products depending on the colour of the substance and the operating temperature (up to 300°C). TME offers products manufactured by, among others, AG Termopasty, Amepox Microelectronic or Electrolube.
