Analog Devices (abbreviated to Analog or ADI) is one of the largest international semiconductor companies specializing in the design and manufacture of integrated circuits. The company was founded in 1965 and its headquarters is located in Wilmington, Massachusetts, USA.
From the beginning, Analog Devices has focused on research and development of analogue integrated circuits, mixed-signal integrated circuits (analog-to-digital), and with time also signal processors (DSP - Digital Signal Processing) – components without which it would be practically impossible for modern electronic devices to function.
Many years of experience have resulted in a wide range of original solutions and products. Over time, Analog Devices portfolio was enriched by products of other companies, which were incorporated into the group. This includes brands such as Trinamic and Linear Technology, which produces advanced analogue integrated circuits (acquired in 2016). Since 2020, ADI also includes Maxim Integrated - a company specializing in analog-to-digital circuits.
Currently, Analog Devices offers thousands of different chips, of which several groups are worth mentioning. Operational amplifiers: from popular and universal series to advanced circuits used in measuring circuits, current sensors, audio and video amplifiers, comparators, amplifiers with adjustable gain, and other specialised features. Signal processing systems: primarily analog-to-digital converter systems (ADC) enabling the conversion of an analogue signal (e.g., from a temperature, light, sound, pressure, speed sensor, etc.) into a digital signal. Using digital-to-analog converters, (DACs ), it is possible to convert a digital signal into an analog signal. These solutions are key in audio systems, current transducers, or precision measurement systems. Analog Devices' range also includes interface circuits that allow you to connect different circuits - e.g., RS232, USB, or CAN. They also include digital isolators, I/O expanders, or voltage (level translators). The manufacturer also provides power management integrated circuits (useful primarily in battery-powered mobile devices) as well as digital signal processors (DSP) – components adapted for fast and precise processing of analogue signals.
