A belt drive is a mechanical power transmission system in which the driving force is transmitted via a belt - a flexible, closed element of a certain width and strength - between at least two pulleys (drums or rollers). Such a design enables torque and rotary or linear motion to be transmitted continuously, quietly and relatively vibration-free. Depending on the application and design characteristics, the belt can be made of rubber, polyurethane, textile, metal or composite materials, and its surface can be smooth, serrated or perforated.
In industry, belt actuators are widely used in both internal transport systems (e.g. conveyor belts) and precision mechanical equipment, such as drives in plotters, printers, scanners or axis positioning systems in machine tools CNC. In the context of transmission Actuators, Tapes can act as replacements for classic V-belts or flat belts, offering more favourable performance properties in terms of tensile strength, fatigue resistance and dynamic elasticity.
Important design parameters in Tapes Actuators are preload force, linear speed, belt bending radius, coefficient of friction and accuracy of guidance along the working path. Adequate design and proper guidance of the Tapes are crucial to maintain operational stability and to reduce mechanical wear and energy losses due to slippage or uneven stress distribution. Actuators are also an important component in industrial automation solutions, where they support unmanned transport and precise motion control of production line components.
