Transfiguration - definition

Transfiguration in electrical engineering refers to a method of transforming the structure of an electrical circuit in order to simplify its analysis or adapt it to specific computational conditions. Most commonly, the term is used in the context of transforming the topology of a resistive circuit, in particular when converting star (Y) to triangle (Δ) type circuits and vice versa. Such transformations allow complex electrical networks to be reduced to more analytically accessible forms, without changing the electrical characteristics between the external points of the system.

The basis of the transfiguration is that the electrical equivalence of the circuit section being transformed is preserved, meaning that for the same external terminal configuration, the voltages and currents remain unchanged after the transformation is applied. This method therefore allows the analysis of voltages, currents and power in circuits where standard reduction techniques - such as series or parallel connection - cannot be directly applied due to the connection topology.

Transfiguration is of particular importance in the analysis of DC linear networks and in teaching tasks, where it facilitates the understanding of the principles of energy and geometric equivalence of circuits. It can also be used in the automation of computer calculations and optimisation algorithms. In formal terms, it is treated as a special case of the circuit transformation, subject to strict mathematical relationships derived from Ohm's law and Kirchhoff's laws.

Transfer Multisort Elektronik (TME) is one of the world’s largest global distributors of electronic components, electrotechnical parts, workshop equipment, and industrial automation. The catalog includes over 1,500,000 products from 1,300 leading manufacturers. TME’s modern logistics centers in Łódź and Rzgów (Poland), with a combined area of over 40,000 m², ship nearly 6,000 packages daily to customers in more than 150 countries.

TME also invests in the development of knowledge and skills of young engineers and electronics enthusiasts through the TME Education project, and supports the tech community by organizing the TechMasterEvent series, promoting innovation and experience exchange.
