Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) - definition

Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Uninterruptible Power Supply) is an electrical device that ensures continuity of power supply in the event of mains voltage failure or instability. Its operation is based on the conversion of energy stored in internal batteries into output voltage with stabilised characteristics, which protects critical equipment from the effects of sudden power cuts, voltage drops and electromagnetic interference.
