Here you will find out morePlastic standoffs are mechanical elements used for permanent mounting of electric/electronic device elements such as, for example, PCBs, display modules, power supplies, panels with buttons or other components. Plastic standoffs are insulators, which means that on the one hand they firmly fix the components, and on the other hand do not allow the current to flow between them in any other way than through the connector.
Plastic standoffs are most often made in a form of a pipe or a post with threaded tips (you can fix a nut on them). At times, there is a hole on one end of the post, and the other end is threaded. Some standoffs can have a kind of a snap fastener which firmly fixes them in the hole in the board, without the need to use nuts, bolts or screws. Standoffs with a circular or hexagonal cross-section are most popular solutions. The latter type is used when the standoff has to be held with a tool while mounting.
