Inductive sensors are widely used in construction and operation of machines and devices. They work based on changes in electromagnetic field in response to the movement of metal objects in the sensitivity area (range depends on the type of a given component). This type of proximity sensors can be used as a part of systems for positioning, revolution counting, or controlling the movement of parts in a particular device. They are used in industrial automation (e.g. as limit switches), control systems, or in devices for controlling vibrations and changes in positioning. Inductive sensors can be divided based on their output configuration – there are dual-state (PNP/NPN) sensors and sensors with an analogue output (4-20mA or 0-10V). In the former type, we can also find NO (normal open) and NC (normal closed) outputs. Inductive sensors can be connected in series or in parallel – the maximum number depends on the power supply voltage, voltage drops, and efficiency of particular components.
In its catalogue TME offers a wide selection of sensors of different types and range. Inductive sensors are divided e.g. based on their shape – cylindrical or rectangular. The search feature allows for filtering items based on their enclosure type or output – we offer PNP/NPN (NO or NC) and analogue sensors. In the selection, one should also pay attention to the supply voltage. The most common sensors are 10...30V DC, which are perfect for connecting to PLC drivers. On the other hand, AC sensors can successfully be used as limit switches without interfering in the control system. In numerous cases, parameters like operating temperature or mounting type may be of crucial importance.
