Jack sockets - especially in 6.35mm, 3.5mm (mini) and 2.5mm (micro) diameters - have become very popular with audio applications. In addition to the durable design, their advantages include the protection against incorrect polarity connection, compatibility with coaxial cables and the ability to produce a multi-pin variant compatible with simpler socket versions. Thanks to all these features, jack sockets can be used not only as connectors for audio signals, but also as power connectors; they can also be used for connecting probes to measuring devices.
Below we present a series of high-quality mini (i.e., jack with a diameter of 3.5mm) threaded jack sockets with a nut, which are used to attach the connector to the panel. These are the S6 series solutions from the renowned CLIFF brand.
The products are available in a wide range of colours (seven colours). They are fitted with PCB (THT) tags and solder tags. The sockets have a switch, i.e., after inserting the plug, the connection between the pair of dedicated pins is opened. In analogue consumer electronics this solution was used as a mute switch muting the signal from the amplifier to the speaker - nowadays the switch is usually connected to a digital circuit controlling the operation of the device.
