UV-A LEDs

Date of publication: 14-03-2023 🕒 3 min read

The TME’s range of products now includes new ultraviolet LEDs supplied by Luckylight.

LED LL-504UVAC2E-Q5C

The wavelength of light generated by these components is 395 nm or 400 nm (UV-A band). This range falls just below the visible light spectrum, so most of the radiation emitted by these diodes is not visible to the human eye. However, it has a number of applications. Such components are often used in all sorts of detectors and analysers, thanks to which leakage or spills can be detected by causing phosphorescent substances to glow. UV diodes are also used in counterfeit currency detectors and photocatalysis, i.e. the acceleration of a chemical reaction using radiation. Some epoxy resins are manufactured in such a way that their curing can be shortened when exposed to UV light – a similar process is used in 3D printers. Light is also used for photo etching in low-volume PCB production.

The products presented here are enclosed in typical 5 mm diameter housings, with a convex front and through-hole (THT) mounting leads. Their viewing angle is either 15° or 25°.
