Raspberry Pi 5 was launched about a year ago and was a great success for the producer. It has brought many new features and improvements, such as a 3x increase in performance compared to the previous model, Raspberry Pi 4 from 2019, as well as a power button and PCI Express port.

However, the most popular application the PCI Express port is used for, is attaching an NVMe solid-state disk (SSD). SSDs are a great choice, since they’re even faster than the A2-class SD cards. If you want the best possible performance, we recommend running Raspberry Pi OS from an SSD, and Raspberry Pi’s SSDs are just perfect for this.
The drives are available in the 256GB and 512GB versions. They both offer minimum 4KB random read and write performance of 40k IOPS (256GB version) and 70k IOPS (512GB version).
