Bionics is an interdisciplinary field of science and engineering that involves studying the structures, processes, and mechanisms found in nature, and then using them as templates for designing and developing technological solutions. Its goal is to create systems, materials, and devices inspired by the efficiency, adaptability, and complexity of living organisms.
The concept of bionics refers to the integration of biology with engineering, computer science, robotics, and materials science. By analyzing the functioning of biological systems—such as muscles, senses, nervous systems, or cellular structures—bionics enables the transfer of their operating principles to practical technology. Examples of such applications include prosthetics controlled by neural impulses, artificial senses, materials with variable structures, and robots that mimic animal movements.
In bionics, great importance is attached to precise modeling and simulation of natural systems, taking into account their adaptive properties and self-regulation abilities. A key aspect is also the creation of interfaces between biological and electronic systems, allowing for two-way signal exchange—applicable in neurotechnology and medicine.
The development of bionics requires the collaboration of many fields, such as biophysics, neurobiology, automation, and mechatronics. This enables the design of increasingly advanced biomimetic technologies, which are characterized by high functionality and energy efficiency, while being more integrated with the natural environment of humans.
Transfer Multisort Elektronik (TME) is one of the world’s largest global distributors of electronic components, electrotechnical parts, workshop equipment, and industrial automation. The catalog includes over 1,500,000 products from 1,300 leading manufacturers. TME’s modern logistics centers in Łódź and Rzgów (Poland), with a combined area of over 40,000 m², ship nearly 6,000 packages daily to customers in more than 150 countries.
TME also invests in the development of knowledge and skills of young engineers and electronics enthusiasts through the TME Education project, and supports the tech community by organizing the TechMasterEvent series, promoting innovation and experience exchange.
