Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communication standard that enables data exchange between electronic devices in the 2.4 GHz frequency band. The technology was developed in the 1990s by Ericsson and later advanced by the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group), a consortium comprising numerous electronic equipment manufacturers. Its goal was to create a universal method of wireless connectivity between devices without the need for cables, while maintaining low power consumption and acceptable data throughput.
Bluetooth uses packet-based transmission and frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) techniques to improve resistance to interference and enable coexistence with other radio systems operating in the same frequency band. The protocol supports automatic device pairing and allows for point-to-point connections or simple networks (known as piconets), facilitating flexible configurations in both mobile and stationary environments.
The Bluetooth standard has evolved to support higher data rates, extended range, and enhanced connection security. Communication profiles were introduced to define how Bluetooth operates in specific applications, including audio streaming, file transfer, peripheral communication, and sensor integration. Since version 4.0, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) has been introduced to support ultra-low power applications such as wearable devices, location-based systems, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Transfer Multisort Elektronik (TME) is one of the world’s largest global distributors of electronic components, electrotechnical parts, workshop equipment, and industrial automation. The catalog includes over 1,500,000 products from 1,300 leading manufacturers. TME’s modern logistics centers in Łódź and Rzgów (Poland), with a combined area of over 40,000 m², ship nearly 6,000 packages daily to customers in more than 150 countries.
TME also invests in the development of knowledge and skills of young engineers and electronics enthusiasts through the TME Education project, and supports the tech community by organizing the TechMasterEvent series, promoting innovation and experience exchange.
