(407)Universal PCBs are designed for prototyping of electronic systems and for verifying system conceptions. They are also used for manufacturing single units of electronic devices. Universal PCBs allow to create adapters between chips in SMD enclosures and chips in THT enclosures. Great majority of universal PCBs is used for soldering components, but there are also PCBs with spring-type terminals – they are designed for hobbyists.
Our assortment of universal PCBs is very rich. They are available in different sizes: from rectangular PCBs having almost the same dimensions as a postage stamp, to large circuit boards each side of which is several dozen centimetres long. There are also round PCBs, designed for LED lighting, and PCBs in the shape of eurocards with edge connectors, designed for prototyping computer cards. They are made of glass-epoxy laminates and paper laminates of different thickness: from 0.7 to 1.6 mm, and they are available in single-sided or double-sided versions.
Universal PCB mosaic can consist only of solder points with a raster designed for mounting popular systems in DIP enclosures or solder points connected with each other by lines (traces), together with power distribution lines. Holes are placed in different rasters and apart from the basic raster (2.54 mm) there are also PCBs with holes laid out more densely (1.27 mm) or more sparsely. It is also possible to find PCBs with a metric raster. Separate solutions have holes designed for soldering connectors.
Mounting pads of universal PCBs designed for mounting SMD components usually fits popular package sizes. In general, the pattern of pads allows for mounting chips of different sizes.
Universal PCBs are also available in mixed versions. It means that they consist of a field with a mosaic of holes without traces as well as a place designed for mounting ICs in SMD packages. Traces on the great majority of PCBs are coated with tin-lead solder and solder mask.
