Cyber Security is a field of science and technical practice that encompasses strategies, technologies, processes and mechanisms to protect computer systems, networks, devices and data against unauthorised access, attacks, damage, theft or disruption. The foundation of cyber security is to ensure the integrity, confidentiality and availability of information in digital environments, which is achieved through appropriate security architecture and the implementation of access control systems, encryption, authentication and monitoring.
Cybersecurity distinguishes between the protection of different layers of IT infrastructure, including application security, network security, data security, security cloud computing security and critical infrastructure security. In terms of threats, cyber security includes defence against various forms of attacks, such as malware, phishing, ransomware, dDoS attacks, privilege escalation or advanced persistent threats (APT).
Effective cyber security management requires the application of multi-layered security policies, risk analyses, continuous monitoring of incidents and response to security incidents (Incident Response). User education and the development of threat awareness in organisations also play a key role, as the human factor is one of the most common attack vectors. Modern solutions in cyber security use advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and predictive analytics, enabling real-time detection of anomalies and response to threats. Cyber security is also an area of regulation and international standards, such as RODO, ISO/IEC 27001 or NIS2, which define the requirements for information protection and security management in digital infrastructures.
