Augmented reality (AR) - definition

Augmented Reality (AR) is an advanced interactive technology that integrates digital computer-generated content with real-world perception, with spatial and temporal consistency. The mechanism of AR is based on capturing the environment with sensors and cameras and then processing and overlaying information in the form of 3D graphics, sound, text or other contextual data in real time. Unlike virtual reality (VR), which completely replaces the natural environment with a synthetic one, augmented reality merely enriches the perceived physical scene, allowing the user to maintain continuous contact with the material world.

AR systems use algorithms to track the user's position and orientation, e.g. SLAM - Simultaneous Localization and Mapping, image processing and computer graphics rendering techniques to properly anchor elements in three-dimensional space. Applications of augmented reality cover a broad spectrum of fields, including engineering, medicine, education, defence industry, architecture and interactive information systems. In the area of interfaces user interfaces, the technology is redefining the way humans interact with machines, allowing the creation of intuitive, contextual and immersive experiences with digital environments in real time.

Transfer Multisort Elektronik (TME) is one of the world’s largest global distributors of electronic components, electrotechnical parts, workshop equipment, and industrial automation. The catalog includes over 1,500,000 products from 1,300 leading manufacturers. TME’s modern logistics centers in Łódź and Rzgów (Poland), with a combined area of over 40,000 m², ship nearly 6,000 packages daily to customers in more than 150 countries.

TME also invests in the development of knowledge and skills of young engineers and electronics enthusiasts through the TME Education project, and supports the tech community by organizing the TechMasterEvent series, promoting innovation and experience exchange.
