Inolux programmable LEDs

Inolux is a renowned US-based manufacturer of light-emitting diodes. Recently, it has launched a new series of programmable (addressable) RGB SMD LEDs, which are now available in the TME catalogue. With the help of these components, you can create multicoloured lighting systems and multifunctional light sources. Thanks to the controllers designed as ICs incorporated in the LED package, each component can be controlled individually, which makes it possible to achieve countless combinations of colours and effects.

The TME offer includes 8 RGB SMD LEDs from Inolux. They are available in 4-pin packages 2020, 2427, 3535, 5050, and 4020, as well as in 6-pin versions 3537 and 3727. Thanks to the single-line serial data transmission and cascading capability, you can daisy-chain the diodes to produce extensive strings or arrays and create complex lighting systems (the length of a single row is limited up to 10 m). The 24-bit RGB data format and data transfer rate of up to 800 kb/s guarantee precision colour control and smooth lighting effects.

With a view to ensuring stable data transmission, Inolux has equipped the products presented here with the SA-I anti-interference technology. On top of this, a built-in safety module provides the circuit with reverse connect protection, which means that a potential user error will not cause a chain failure of the components (as may occur in the case of some other products available on the market). Moreover, each LED is controlled with an individual PWM signal.

The applications of programmable LEDs are as diverse as their capabilities. Typical examples highlighted by the manufacturer include decorative lighting, IoT modules, smart devices, wearables or even automotive lighting systems, computer hardware etc. Programmable LEDs are a perfect fit for interface applications which involve the most compact devices: a single indicator light can broadcast multiple messages using various combinations of pulses and colours. An additional advantage of the LEDs is their low current consumption (up to 12 mA), thanks to which they can be used in battery-powered circuits.
