Here you will find out morePotentiometers allow you to comfortably adjust the operating parameters of your electronic devices. The potentiometer itself is not particularly attractive, so it’s a good idea to add a knob to it.
The knob should match the dimensions of the shaft. It’s a good idea to make sure its appearance matches the enclosure of the device. When selecting a knob, you should also pay attention to the material it is made of. The most common are knobs made of ABS, but you can also find models made of polyamide or other plastics, or even metal (usually aluminium). The choice should be made based on the operating environment, as well as on the threat of mechanical damages.
Knobs can be round, with no direction highlighted, or with a marker. Available are also covers, adapters, and discs to choose from. Discs enable e.g. easy introduction of position markings. The height of the knob may be a factor as well. You probably want it to be larger if it’s going to be operated in thick gloves. It will make the adjustment easier, and you won’t have to fear of the knob slipping out of your hand.
Knobs are mounted by pushing-in, using a clamp mechanism, or using screws or nuts. There are also self-adhesive elements available. TME’s offer includes models for shafts with the diameter of 3mm to 8mm. The most commonly used are knobs for potentiometers with shaft diameter of 6mm.
Many customers care about the colour, too. The most popular are grey or black knobs, but you can obviously find more colourful models as well. As for metal knobs, TME’s offer includes uncoated versions, i.e. in the natural colour of aluminium or bronze.
