Biorobotics is a scientific field at the intersection of engineering, biology, and robotics, focusing on the design and construction of robotic systems inspired by living organisms or collaborating with biological systems. It includes both the creation of mechanical devices that mimic the functions and structures of the body, and the integration of technology with the human organism to support, replace, or enhance biological capabilities.
The fundamental premise of biorobotics is to use knowledge about the principles of organism functioning to develop innovative technical solutions. This can include designing prostheses and exoskeletons that respond to neural signals, developing control systems based on biological behavior models, and creating interfaces between living tissues and electronic systems. Key here are adaptive abilities, self-learning, and processing complex sensory signals.
Biorobotics is primarily applied in medicine, rehabilitation, biomechanics, and neuroengineering. It enables the development of devices that support people with disabilities, such as artificial limbs, hearing implants, or systems controlled by eye movements or thoughts. At the same time, research in this field is also significant for the development of autonomous humanoid robots, biomimetic systems, and technologies integrating artificial systems with living organisms.
Contemporary biorobotics is based on achievements in soft robotics, microelectronics, bioengineering, and artificial intelligence. Its development requires close cooperation among specialists from many fields and adherence to high ethical standards, especially in the context of interactions between machine and human and the use of biological components in technical systems.
Transfer Multisort Elektronik (TME) is one of the world’s largest global distributors of electronic components, electrotechnical parts, workshop equipment, and industrial automation. The catalog includes over 1,500,000 products from 1,300 leading manufacturers. TME’s modern logistics centers in Łódź and Rzgów (Poland), with a combined area of over 40,000 m², ship nearly 6,000 packages daily to customers in more than 150 countries.
TME also invests in the development of knowledge and skills of young engineers and electronics enthusiasts through the TME Education project, and supports the tech community by organizing the TechMasterEvent series, promoting innovation and experience exchange.
