Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is a technique for developing, modifying and documenting technical designs using specialised computer software. CAD is used in many areas of engineering and industry - from mechanics and electrical engineering, through architecture to the design of integrated circuits and automation systems.
CAD systems enable the creation of two- and three-dimensional models (2D and 3D), which allow the precise geometry of objects to be mapped, their properties to be analysed and their mode of operation to be simulated before physical realisation. This makes it possible to quickly detect design errors, optimise designs and better manage technical documentation. Today's CAD tools often integrate with CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) and CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) systems, enabling a seamless transition from design to manufacturing and analysis.
CAD environments offer extensive features such as parametric solid modelling, sketching, the generation of technical drawings compliant, and the ability for multiple users to collaborate on a single project. In the context of electrical engineering and Automation, specialised CAD versions are used that enable the design of electrical schematics, routing of PCB paths or the creation of layouts for industrial installations.
The development of CAD technology has significantly influenced the design process, increasing its accuracy, reducing lead times and enabling better control of the product life cycle. These systems are an indispensable tool for today's engineers and designers.
Transfer Multisort Elektronik (TME) is one of the world’s largest global distributors of electronic components, electrotechnical parts, workshop equipment, and industrial automation. The catalog includes over 1,500,000 products from 1,300 leading manufacturers. TME’s modern logistics centers in Łódź and Rzgów (Poland), with a combined area of over 40,000 m², ship nearly 6,000 packages daily to customers in more than 150 countries.
TME also invests in the development of knowledge and skills of young engineers and electronics enthusiasts through the TME Education project, and supports the tech community by organizing the TechMasterEvent series, promoting innovation and experience exchange.
