Technical drawing is a versatile form of graphic engineering documentation used to unambiguously represent the shape, dimensions, structure and method of manufacture and assembly of technical components. It is an essential tool for communication in fields such as mechanics, construction, electrical engineering, architecture, Automation and the manufacturing industry. Technical drawing is based on well-defined standards and conventions that guarantee its comprehensibility regardless of language or geographical location.
The creation of a technical drawing requires the application of established rules of geometric representation - including rectangular projections, axonometric projections, sections and detailed views - that enable the precise representation of a three-dimensional object on a plane. Another important aspect is the standardised determination of dimensions, tolerances, surface roughness, materials, Protective Coatings and other structural parameters. All this information is interpreted according to the applicable standards, such as ISO, DIN or PN-EN.
Technical drawings can be produced manually, using traditional drawing tools, or - in modern times - in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) environments, which allow the creation of documentation in two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) form. Electronic forms of technical drawings support integration with document management systems, MES analysis, CAM or 3D printing.
In the manufacturing and assembly process, the technical drawing takes precedence over the verbal description and forms the basis for quality control, production planning, material orders and technical inspection. Its correctness and correspondence to reality determine the precision of manufacture, the safety of the structure and the possibility of correct operation of the product.
Transfer Multisort Elektronik (TME) is one of the world’s largest global distributors of electronic components, electrotechnical parts, workshop equipment, and industrial automation.
